Audio & Video Fellowship

The Audio/Video Fellowship offers hands-on training in audio, video, production, and media work connected to NWS performances, broadcasts, recordings, and institutional programming.

This fellowship primarily focuses on audio while also including video mentoring and training. Under the supervision of the Director of Audio Services, the Audio/Video Fellow gains practical experience in recording, editing, mixing, mastering, live sound, broadcast audio, post-production, and performance documentation.

Responsibilities may include recording and mixing performances, editing and mastering recordings, recording and mixing audio for live web broadcasts, mixing live sound for NWS events, audio restoration, post-production audio work for video projects, recording audition repertoire for Fellows, participating in electronic media activities, operating secondary audio systems, assisting with video editing, and supporting performances or shoots as needed.

Application materials may include a high-quality audio demo, uncompressed WAV or BWF audio files, download links or physical media, and video examples if available.

Full performances are preferred over short clips. Recordings should focus primarily on classical music, though applicants may include other musical styles if available. Video examples are welcome but not mandatory. Applicants should demonstrate a genuine interest in learning video techniques or expanding their existing video knowledge.

Special notice for foreign nationals

To substitute with NWS, musicians must already be authorized to work in the U.S., such as through a Green Card, O-1, or F-1 with CPT/OPT authorized by their school. NWS does not petition visas for substitute work.

Instrument sections: Each instrument should have its own accordion or jump-link section and include only the Video Round / Prescreening repertoire. Do not include Live Audition Round, Excerpt of Choice language, or Discretionary Excerpt language.
