Volunteer at NWS

Not at all! A background in music isn't required. We simply ask that you enjoy working with people. Customer service or volunteering experience is certainly helpful.  

That's perfectly okay! While experience in volunteering or customer service can be helpful, it isn't required. If you enjoy welcoming people, learning new things, and being part of a team, we'll provide the guidance and training to help you succeed. 

That's entirely up to you! We do not have a minimum volunteer requirement. Whether you'd like to volunteer once a month or several times throughout the season, you're welcome to choose the level of involvement that works best for your schedule. 

Yes! Volunteers choose the concerts and events they'd like to support based on their own availability and interest. We will never automatically assign you to a shift.  

Volunteers help create an exceptional guest experience by welcoming patrons, scanning tickets, assisting guests to their seats, providing wayfinding, distributing programs and answering general questions. Please note that most volunteer roles require standing and walking for approximately three hours at a time. 

Most volunteer shifts last approximately 4–5 hours. 

1. Complete the online volunteer application.  

2. Meet virtually with the House Manager to learn more about the program and ask any questions.  

3. Complete a background check.  

4. Receive the upcoming volunteer schedule and select your first shift.  

5. Shadow experienced volunteers during your first few shifts until you're comfortable serving independently.  

Absolutely! We'll provide all the training and materials you need. Your orientation begins before your first shift and continues through hands-on, on-the-job training alongside experienced volunteers. We want every volunteer to feel comfortable, confident and supported. 

Volunteers wear professional black and white attire while on shift. Additional uniform guidelines will be provided during onboarding. 

We provide complimentary parking in the attached municipal parking garage for volunteers while serving. 

Yes. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. 

Absolutely! We have several couples, friends and family members who volunteer together. Each person will complete their own application and onboarding process, but we'd be delighted to welcome you together. 

Not necessarily. Volunteers rotate through a variety of Front of House responsibilities throughout the season. Even when you're assigned the same role more than once, your location or responsibilities may vary from concert to concert, allowing you to experience different aspects of guest services. 

Absolutely. We understand that life gets busy, and many of our volunteers travel seasonally or have changing schedules. You're welcome to step away and return when you're ready. We simply ask that you keep us informed so we can plan accordingly.
