Yunjung Ko

Violinist Yunjung Ko is a talented and accomplished violinist from South Korea, currently serving as a third-year Fellow at the New World Symphony. She began her musical journey at an early age, demonstrating exceptional skill and passion for the violin. Yunjung studied under the guidance of Daewhan Kim and graduated with the highest honors from both Yewon School and Seoul Art High School, two prestigious institutions in South Korea. Her dedication to her craft earned her top prizes in numerous national competitions. Additionally, she had the honor of performing solo concerts as part of the Kumho Prodigy Concert series, which was supported by the Kumho Foundation, further establishing her as a rising star in the classical music world.

Yunjung's pursuit of excellence led her to study at Seoul National University, where she received her bachelor of music degree. Seeking further growth, she moved to the United States to study with renowned violinist Lucie Robert at the Manhattan School of Music, where she earned both her master of music and performance studies degrees in orchestral music under the tutelage of Lisa Kim and David Chan. Throughout her studies, Yunjung participated in numerous music programs, including fellowships at the Music Academy of the West and Tanglewood Music Center, where she refined her skills and gained invaluable performance experience.

Her talents have earned her numerous accolades, including top prizes in the Segye Competition, KCO Competition, and a second prize in the Young Tchaikovsky String International Competition. Yunjung’s dedication to her art and her achievements highlights her potential as one of the leading violinists of her generation.
