Hannah Corbett

Recently named one of Canada’s 2025 “30 hot classical musicians under 30,” violinist Hannah Corbett enjoys an dynamic performing career as a chamber, solo and orchestral player. She is currently a Fellow at the New World Symphony; 2024-25 season highlights have included performing Bach’s Double Concerto as a soloist with Shunske Sato, appearing as a soloist in Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 under the baton of Stéphane Denève and serving as a concertmaster for Michael Tilson Thomas’s final performance with the orchestra in March 2025. She is proud to be a 2025 fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center.

An active orchestral musician, Hannah’s recent engagements include performances with the Mainly Mozart Festival All-Star Orchestra in San Diego, The Philadelphia Orchestra as a substitute, and as concertmaster in The Rite of Spring at Tanglewood. She was the Principal Second Violin of the 2023 New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and has served as concertmaster of the Shepherd School Symphony and Opera Orchestras, University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra of Canada, where she was twice awarded the NYOC Award of Excellence.

Hannah is equally at home as a chamber musician and has performed with distinguished artists including Philip Setzer, David Shifrin, Lawrence Dutton, Colin Carr, Nancy Allen, Jonathan Crow, Norman Fischer, John Novacek and Scott St. John. Recent chamber performances include Brahms’s Piano Trio No. 1 with cellist Oliver Herbert, and appearances at the Galveston Symphony Moody Mansion Series, Archway Gallery in Houston, Berkshire Bach Festival, Vermont Public Radio and the 21C Music Festival and Arts and Letters Club in Toronto. She is a two-time winner of the Felix Galimir Chamber Music Award and has been coached by members of the Guarneri, Juilliard, Dover, St. Lawrence and Emerson string quartets.

Hannah is a prizewinner at the Shean Strings Competition, Kocianovo Violin Competition and Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition. She earned her master of music degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in 2024, studying with Cho-Liang Lin as the recipient of the Anne and Charles Duncan Concertmaster Chair Endowment. She received her bachelor of music degree at the University of Toronto with Jonathan Crow, following her early training at the Phil and Eli Taylor Academy in the studio of Atis Bankas.

Hannah has spent summers at the Toronto Summer Music Festival, Manchester Music Festival, Orford Music Academy, NYO Canada and National Arts Centre’s Orchestral Mentorship Program.
