Chad Rogers

Second-year Fellow Chad Rogers is a dedicated double bass performer that has just finished a performance degree of orchestral studies in performance at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. He holds a master of music degree from McGill University's Schulich School of Music and a bachelor of music degree from the University of Maryland. Chad's extensive festival experience includes the Aspen Music Festival and Domaine Forget Academy, and he has performed with esteemed ensembles such as the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal as well as the National Arts Centre Orchestra, participating in the National Arts Centre Orchestra Mentorship Program.

Notable achievements include winning an audition with the Kingston Symphony (2024) and premiering Damian Geter’s African American Requiem at the Kennedy Center. An avid chamber musician, Chad has performed double bass chamber music by Vaughan Williams, Xenakis and Ligeti. He has also been featured on NPR Music alongside Chris Thile, and has also played in concert with Augustin Hadelich, Bruce Liu, Christine Goerke and more. Committed to mentorship, he has also served as a music camp mentor and coach for young musicians in Montgomery and Harford County, MD.

Outside of classical music, Chad has had experience performing in a plethora of genres, including jazz, hip hop, Baroque music, folk music, sacred music and more, and is grateful that all of these experiences have added more variety of colors which enrich his orchestral experience. Outside of music, Chad enjoys hiking, weightlifting, swimming, reading and eating voraciously
