Weronika Wrzosek

Weronika Wrzosek is a second-year Audio/Video Fellow at the New World Symphony. Before moving to Miami, she lived in Graz, Austria, where she is pursuing her master’s degree in sound design at FH Joanneum and Kunstuniversität Graz. There, she was first introduced to the field of spatial audio, particularly focusing on binaural listening and the ambisonics format. In November 2024, she was awarded first prize in the Student 3D Audio Production Competition at the IEM in Graz, in the category Audio Drama / Documentary / Soundscapes, where she presented her composition on oceanic noise pollution.

In parallel to her academic activities, Weronika gained experience as a sound technician at the Opera House Graz and as an audio documentation recordist at the Centre for Artistic Research, led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Deniz Peters at the Kunstuniversität Graz. Before undertaking postgraduate studies, she worked as an audio assistant at ORF, a broadcast studio in Vienna, where she was responsible for the in-ear monitoring and audio systems for presenters and guests in the newsroom and during TV sports productions.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in ‘Art of Sound’ at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, NL, where she studied sound engineering and music production under Maurice Bom as her main subject teacher. She developed various audio skills, including studio and live concert recordings, mixing, and working with analogue and digital audio equipment. Moreover, she interned at the recording studio Exalto Studio's (Haarlem, NL) and the post-production studio Sound Adventure (Amsterdam).

In her youth, she graduated from the Secondary Music School in Warsaw, with violin as her main instrument, studying under Dr. Katarzyna Bąkowska, who inspired her to explore the repertoire of 20th-century Polish music, including works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Karol Szymanowski and Ignacy Paderewski.

In her free time, she enjoys playing improvised and folk music, collaborating with a diverse circle of musicians and going mountain hiking.
