Library Fellowship

The New World Symphony Library Fellowship offers hands-on professional training in orchestral library work within a full-time orchestral academy environment.

This fellowship is designed for an emerging music librarian seeking intensive, practical experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional orchestra library. The Library Fellow works closely with NWS staff, conductors, guest artists, visiting faculty, and Fellows throughout the season.

Unlike short-term internships or classroom-based programs, the NWS Library Fellowship provides sustained, season-long training inside a working orchestral institution. The Fellow gains direct experience supporting rehearsals, performances, auditions, readings, chamber music, special events, and large-scale orchestral projects.

Training may include preparing and distributing orchestral parts, marking bowings and edits, maintaining the performance library, supporting conductors and guest artists, tracking repertoire and instrumentation, coordinating rentals and purchases, preparing music for rehearsals and performances, supporting chamber music and special projects, and developing professional standards in accuracy, communication, organization, and discretion.

Special notice for foreign nationals

To substitute with NWS, musicians must already be authorized to work in the U.S., such as through a Green Card, O-1, or F-1 with CPT/OPT authorized by their school. NWS does not petition visas for substitute work.

Instrument sections: Each instrument should have its own accordion or jump-link section and include only the Video Round / Prescreening repertoire. Do not include Live Audition Round, Excerpt of Choice language, or Discretionary Excerpt language.
