Harin Kang

Harin Kang, a violinist from South Korea, is a second-year Fellow at the New World Symphony. Known for her leadership and artistry, she has served as Concertmaster of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (2024–25), New England Conservatory Philharmonic Orchestra, NEC Chamber Orchestra and the Music Academy of the West Festival Orchestra. She has also appeared as a substitute musician with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and performed with ensembles including Sejong Soloists and Orchestral Ensemble Seoul.

A passionate chamber musician, Harin has appeared in the New England Conservatory Chamber Music Gala Concert and the Music Academy of the West String Quartet Seminar Showcase. As a soloist, she has performed with orchestras including the LG Philharmonic Orchestra. Her accolades include first prizes in the Hwasung National Music Competition and Haneum Music Competition, as well as the William Hymanson Endowed Concertmaster Scholarship and numerous merit-based scholarships from both the New England Conservatory and Seoul National University.

Harin holds a master of music degree from the New England Conservatory and a bachelor of music degree from Seoul National University. She is also an alumna of the Music Academy of the West, where she attended three summers, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. Her principal teachers include Kristopher Tong, Duekwoo Kim and the late Hyukjoo Kwun, and she has worked closely in chamber music settings with members of the Takács Quartet and Richard O’Neill. With a performance history spanning Asia and the United States, Harin brings a thoughtful musical voice and leadership to her work as an orchestral musician and chamber artist.
