Eric Molina Pereira

Eric Molina Pereira, a Brazilian trumpeter from São Paulo, is a second-year Trumpet Fellow at the New World Symphony. Celebrated for his artistry and versatility, he won first prize at the 2024 Philip Smith International Trumpet Competition, and received the Most Outstanding Instrumentalist (Trumpet) Award at the 2025 Sphinx SOPA Competition.

Eric has performed with leading ensembles including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Symphony and New Jersey Symphony, as well as the Ann Arbor Symphony, Sphinx Symphony Orchestra, and major Brazilian orchestras such as the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra (OSM) and Goiás Symphony Orchestra. In 2024 he joined OSESP’s recording of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 under Thierry Fischer as a guest musician.

Previously, Eric served as Second Trumpet/Assistant Principal with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra (Michigan) and as Third Trumpet with the Flint Symphony Orchestra (Michigan). He holds a master’s degree in music performance from Eastern Michigan University, where he studied with Dr. Anderson Romero, and is also an alumnus of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra’s Academy of Music, where he completed two years of intensive orchestral training under Fernando Dissenha, Principal Trumpet, and Gilberto Siqueira, former Principal Trumpet.

Throughout his career, Eric has shared the stage with renowned artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Diana Damrau, Anna Netrebko, Isabelle Faust and Philip Smith, and has performed under Marin Alsop, David Robertson, Giancarlo Guerrero, JoAnn Falletta and Xian Zhang, among others.
