Abigail Davidson

Abigail Davidson is a second-year Horn Fellow at the New World Symphony. She spent most of her childhood near Denver, Colorado. Abby’s musical journey began at the age of seven when she began taking piano lessons, fostering a lifelong love for the instrument. In middle school, she added trumpet to her repertoire, which continued through junior year of high school. When Abby was 16, she discovered a passion for symphonic music and immediately realized that she wanted to switch instruments and pursue a career in horn. 

Prior to joining New World Symphony, Abby graduated from the Eastman School of Music with a bachelor’s degree in horn performance and a minor in German language. While in Rochester, she studied with W. Peter Kurau and performed as a substitute musician with the Buffalo Philharmonic and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Abby moved from New York to Los Angeles in 2022 to study with Andrew Bain at the Colburn School while obtaining her master’s degree. She has spent three summers as a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School, with additional summers at the Chautauqua Institute and Brevard Music Center. 

Outside of music, Abby enjoys anything outdoors! She feels lucky to have grown up within Colorado’s diverse landscape and loves hiking, biking, climbing and learning about the environment. If she’s not outside, she is likely to be found journaling, reading, playing with her cat or brewing new coffees and teas. Abby is extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the New World Symphony and be surrounded by such inspiring musicians.
