Ricardo Puche Bravo

A second-year Bass Fellow at the New World Symphony, Ricardo Puche Bravo played with numerous orchestras in Texas such as Fort Worth Symphony, Richardson Symphony, Waco Symphony, Wichita Falls Symphony and Arkansas’s Fort Smith Symphony. He was member of the Bogota Chamber Philharmonic as Principal Bass.

Ricardo was winner of 2025 Papich Chamber Competition at the University of North Texas, where he composed his first original piece called Pandora for bass trio. He was also a finalist of the 2025 International Society of Bassist Orchestral Competition in Tallahassee, winner of the 2022 Solo Competition at the University of North Texas, winner of the 2019 solo competition “Young Soloist” Bank of the Republic in Colombia and winner of the 2019 Solo Competition in the National University of Colombia.

Ricardo was the recipient of a Teaching Fellow scholarship at the University of North Texas, where he obtained his master’s degree and artist diploma. He was the scholarship recipient for the best score at the National University of Colombia where he obtained his bachelor’s degree.

Aside from the classical world, he has performed with numerous artists in different music styles, including salsa, jazz, Latin jazz, rock and world music.

Ricardo has been invited to numerous music festivals and gatherings, like the 2025 Sphinx National Alliance for Audition Support (NAAS), the 2024 Bass Camp at North Texas, 2023 Youth Orchestra of Colombia tour in Europe—where he performed with the prestigious soloist Hillary Han, and 2019 Youth Orchestra of The Americas (YOA) in Poland, Germany, Ukraine and Scotland.

Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Ricardo began his bass studies at age nine with El Sistema. In 2015 he settled in Bogotá, where he began his university studies at the National University of Colombia by Master Jaime Ramírez Castilla.
