Graham Mynatt

Graham Mynatt is a third-year Bass Trombone Fellow at the New World Symphony. He has performed with numerous orchestras including the Danville Symphony, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and Evansville Ballet, among others. He enjoys performing jazz and commercial music. He was a member of the Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Ensemble for two years at Indiana University and can also be heard playing trombone on Sonder Ponder's 2020 self-titled debut album. As a soloist, Graham was named a division three finalist in the U.S. Army Band’s Solo Competition. 

Originally from Springdale, Arkansas, Graham received his bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Central Arkansas, where he studied with Justin Cook and Chrisopher Sharpe. He recently earned his master’s degree in trombone performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music (IU), where he studied with Denson Paul Pollard, Bass Trombone of the Metropolitan Opera. While attending IU, he also studied tenor trombone with Carl Lenthe and jazz with Wayne Wallace. 

In addition to his performance career, Graham is an enthusiastic teacher. He has worked with many young students throughout Arkansas and Indiana, where he was fortunate to have students selected for the Arkansas and Indiana All-State Bands. While attending Indiana University, Graham was the Associate Instructor of Trombone. While in this role, he taught a studio of college students, taught the Brass Pedagogy course and assisted in conducting the IU Trombone Choir. 

In his spare time Graham enjoys spending time with his wife Maggie and their cat Sebastian as well as being outdoors hiking, fishing and biking.
